Ironic Cafe & Bar

This project encompassed the adaptive reuse of a former industrial site to a contemporary café & bar complete with outdoor garden area.

Once a panel beaters workshop and steel workers yard, the site was cleverly unlocked to produce a high quality fitout using materials such as polished concrete, structural steel and glass which provide strong links to the site’s industrial past.

The fitout is embellished with sculptural elements formed from riveted steel plate, stainless steel and exposing of existing building elements such as the original brickwork.

Octa were approached at the outset to provide advice on the feasibility of such an undertaking, and developing initial concepts with the owner.  Octa then assisted in putting together the full project team and provided the framework for a collaborative approach with the owner, tenant and design team, which took the project from conception to successful completion.
