Early in 1991, the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust purchased the Ranui site and removed the existing building to enable a new three storey Accommodation House to be built. Construction started in July 1992 with the house operational from early 1993. Later the Trust added a fourth storey.
In 1996, the Trust had the foresight to purchase the adjoining property for future development. Octa undertook a feasibility study in 2005 which confirmed the need for additional accommodation. Fundraising commenced in early 2006 towards a $6.7 million target and in October 2006 construction began.
The residential accommodation now comprises 11 self contained and 15 semi-self contained apartments.
