Columba College Gymnasium

A new gymnasium at Columba College was proposed to be built in a prominent location on the campus.  As well as meeting the needs of a modern school gymnasium, this new facility therefore needed to sit well in the school campus and the immediate neighbourhood.

Octa provided Columba College with comprehensive project management services to deliver this important school facility.  The school chose to negotiate the construction contract and, while there was a need to be mindful of cost, there was a requirement to consider design and aesthetic issues.  Octa provided the expert input for the school so that these other aspects were considered along with the project expenditure.

The outcome was a very special building.  Functionally it meets all the sporting requirements; however it also is a well designed and detailed building.  This was recognised by the industry when the Columba College Gymnasium won NZIA Awards at Regional and National level in May 2007. 

The project was completed on time and within budget.
