Octa provided project management services to Lakeland Health to review a newly refurbished acute mental health facility.  Significant functional issues were found with the proposed design and Octa were engaged to subsequently manage the refit to address the disfunctional elements.  This included several significant problems with the original design including safety hazards and inappropriate construction details which prevented the facility from being safely commissioned. 

Octa provided comprehensive project management services which included brief development and project management services during design and construction phases.

The subsequent process involved the re-design and construction so that modern service delivery standards could be provided.  The resultant 30 bed unit was based on a cluster model of care, with clear sight lines for nursing observation, and meeting fundamental privacy and security standards.
