Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital Development

Hastings

This project involved the $55 million development of the first Regional Hospital in New Zealand.  The focus of the development was on the consolidation of Napier and Hastings Hospitals into a new Regional Hospital located in Hastings.

Octa provided comprehensive project management services which included a dedicated on site project manager for the duration of the project.

The Regional Hospital Development was successfully completed in November 1999.  New facilities include a six-theatre capacity theatre complex, a sterile services department, a day surgery facility, an Intensive Care Unit, a Health Village and a kitchen / cafeteria. Refurbished facilities include the Emergency Department, a multi-storey block for Surgical and Medical Wards, and a Radiology Department.  Separate projects have developed new community health centres in Wairoa, Waipukurau and Napier.
