Hutt Valley Health Theatre & Emergency Block
Hutt Valley
Octa worked with Hutt Valley Health in developing a strategy for the relocation of its existing operating theatres, Emergency Department and Fracture Clinic. This entailed reviewing and evaluating all available options within the campus to determine the most cost effective location and facility.
Each of the existing facilities was housed within buildings that were constructed during the establishment of Hutt Hospital in 1944. These existing buildings did not meet current earthquake codes and were no longer suitable for the efficient delivery of future health services.
Upon approval of funding by CCMAU to the business plan that included Octa’s proposal for the new facility, Octa were appointed to project manage the design, construction, commissioning and occupation of this $10 million project.
The new Operating Theatres, Emergency Department and Fracture Clinic were completed on schedule in December 1997 and under came in under budget. They provide Hutt Valley Health with a purpose built facility that is designed to withstand a major earthquake.
