Televising Parliament

The Televising Parliament project provides live television coverage of proceedings from the debating chamber. Previously, broadcasters used cameras in the public gallery to record or televise the portions of the proceedings they wished to cover.

The project saw TV cameras being installed in the debating chamber which were controlled remotely from two associated control rooms. 

Octa managed the supply and implementation of the television technology with the first live broadcast available on Freeview, Sky TV and webstream on the NZ Parliament website completed in July 2007.
